Sustainability is more than just a buzzword to Smedes. Wherever possible, we strive to limit the effects of our business practices on the general public and on the environment. In addition, we live up to our social responsibilities in a wide range of areas.  A few examples?

• All our packaging is made from recyclable material
• We only use FSC certified paper (FSC: Council for sustainable forest management)
• Our trucks conform with the European Euro-5 standard
• At our plant we operate in an energy efficient manner
• Our products are characterized by the use of natural ingredients
• In order to safeguard the health of your employees, we sell our oil and flour in handy packaging that is easy to lift
• In terms of sponsorship, we support both local organisations and national trade unions
• We strive to promote the building of local capacities by working closely together with the local community
• We try to encourage our business partners, including our suppliers, to operate, where possible, in a manner consistent with our own policy
